Michel Roux Jr took over the helm at the world famous Michelin starred Le Gavroche in 1991. Since then, Michel has won numerous awards for his cuisine and has continued to set the standard for classical French fine dining in London.
Prior to Le Gavroche, Michel honed his skills working for master chefs in Paris, Lyon, Hong Kong and London, spending two years with Alain Chapel and cooking at the Elysée Palace for President Mitterand. Michel is a judge on the BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals. Michel was appointed as a consultant to Restaurant Associates in 2006.
Steve grew up in Brightlingsea, Essex and attended the Colchester Institute where he took a course in Professional Craft Catering. Steve’s career as a chef has since included positions at The Inn at Perry Cabin in the United States and the Michelin – starred Launceston Place. In addition to this, Steve has cooked on some very impressive stages on the London scene including Le Gavroche, Buckingham Palace, The Ledbury, The Greenhouse and Noma.
Steve’s finest moment came in 2009 when he was crowned MasterChef : The Professionals Winner. In 2010 he joined Roux at Parliament Square and subsequently became Head Chef in 2013.
Steve has appeared on Saturday Kitchen and is also a regular face at Cactus Kitchens for both the Saturday Kitchen Experiences as well as private corporate bookings. He has been part of several events across the country including Foodies Festivals, BBC Good Food Shows, Taste of London & the London Restaurant Festival. Steve has also most recently been seen on screen in the latest series of BBC1’s MasterChef, hosting the semi – finalists for their kitchen challenge & also as a chef’s table judge alongside Tom Kitchin & Paul Ainsworth.
Steve was delighted to be awarded Chef of the Year at the Foodservice Catey’s 2017, an award which he dedicated to the hard work of his whole team at Roux at Parliament Square.
